Martin Luther King, was the main leader of the civil war. I think the reason why we dont have school on Monday is because he is the reason why the world is the way it is. If it wasn’t for him we could be completely different people. I think we stay home so we can honor him with eachother, and honor the lives that we are living.

“I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.”

That are some of his famous words that we still hear today. The, “I have a dream” speech.

The point of staying home i think is to just honor Martin Luther King and the things he’s done for America, and what he sacrificed for all of us.

i think that this video shows that people don’t care if they have money or not it just matters that they have eachother. those people don’t care about every little detail in life. i think everyone should be taught this life lesson, because it’s probably even more important than learning how to count. i think at the part when it said that one of them died and then the other did a couple days later, i think that means they wanted to be with that person for the rest of their life, and they meant it. they would do anything to be together.

i wonder…..

Why everything was fine back in the 1800’s, 1900’s no drama or fighting but more people are being born and the earth slowly made itself the way it is today. I dont get how in that little of time period the world changed to something completely different than it’s purpose. back then you had to make your own food, no big worries about too much money. everybody got along no drama, or talking about people behind their backs. today its the total opposite. if we had the chance we should go back in the future and make sure the warld stays the same!

Why should students come to class? Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 in VSS2007, NACOL, Teaching Theory, Professional Development, Reflection If my students can do the majority of their work with writing and reading online… If my students can receive all of their assignments online… If my students can maintain constant contact with their friends, classmates, and teachers online… If my students can create spaces to come together or work alone online… What do should we do in the classroom? One of the biggest takeaways that I have been formulating at the Virtual Schools Symposium is that the hybrid model is not fiction. When students have access outside of class hours (and this is not a given by any means), shouldn’t we be expecting that they be connecting and collaborating during this time? The more that I work with my new 7th graders (the students who I have only known under the Academy of Discovery Model), the more I realize that productivity is something that comes from having the ability to work at your own pace and schedule. I keep seeing the majority of essays being written at home even though I feel the obligation to give them time in class. I keep seeing my students make more meaning out of the emails and instant messages outside the classroom. My real question, I guess, is what activity is so well suited to face-to-face contact that it can’t be replicated online? Whatever the answer to that question is, is what I need to be doing in my classroom, every day. Here are my thoughts on what can’t be replicated online, yet: Debate - In its truest form, debate is a refined series of verbal arguments that require many people talking in rapid succession. Although you can do debate in an elluminate session, the passing of the mic is awkward at best and the visual separation of the competing sides is not possible. Networking - It is why we still come to conferences. Finding great people that you want to work with and that will challenge you is something that is lacking in the online world. A social network does create a sense of community amongst many people, but it the bonds forged are not immediate. They take time and tending. In face-to-face communication, it is easy to see the worthwhile. It is easy to recognize excellence. That is what classroom time can be: the search and recognition for excellence (in writing, in math, in science, etc.) What are the things that you think are so essential in the classroom that they can’t be outsourced to a virtual space? (Do they still exist? Will they always exist?) I really want to know.

My thoughts on this is positive. I like the idea of debate which we did some in our classroom. I also like the networking idea, commuinicating together works better through the computer I think. I think what they should do in the clasroom is do some computer work together and not have it be homework, just classroom work. Maybe then they would want to come to class and  do fun things instaead of doing book work. If I were them I would want to do things on the computer instead of bookwork which is what we do and i liek it better. I know I can’t remeber pretty much anything we learned last year, but I know i’ll remember things from this year.

Brett Lee is a professional cricketer in Australia. He plays the bowler position which means he’s the “pitcher.”

This is what an article i found had to say: “Lee is an express bowler, one of the fastest the game has known, and is capable of bowling at 160 km/h (99 mph). Lee’s fastest recorded delivery to date is 160.8 km/h (99.9 mph) which he bowled in his first over on March 5, 2005 at Napier, New Zealand against Craig Cumming. He is also an athletic fielder and aggressive lower-order batsman with a batting average exceeding 20. Brett Lee was born on November 8, 1976. What he had to contribute to the world was athletics. Without him, cricket probably wouldn’t be the same since they wouldn’t have a tough player like him to play against. Something so simple as one person not being born could affect people in different countries. Maybe i wouldn’t have been the same without him. That’s why i think Brett Lee contributes a lot to the whole world.

so i e-mailed this band site that sells band shirts. i picked this company because i’ve ordered shirts from them before and they’re a good site. i e-mailed them once before so i thoguth it would be perfect. i found this site the first time by going to a band’s myspace and they had a website so i went to it. when i got there, they had other bands that i liked so i ordered from them.

 the question i e-mailed them was….

I have a question, why do you only have certain band shirts? Is it because you only support those, or is it just who you choose?

i wrote this to them because they only have about 13 bands to choose from and i was wondering why that was.

 they replied….

i thought that this blog was a good idea. not alot of people blog about their fish and have one week anniversaries with it. i think it means that they really care about animals. some blogs that i considered were about animals, becaise i think alot of people liek animals and blog about them so i thought it would be easy to find something that i liked. i found this blog by just going to google and searching about fish. first i searched about cats, and then dogs but i didn’t find anything that i liked…well i did but it said this computer didn’t support cookies. i learned that people in the world really do care about animals and they don’t just want them as a pet, they want them as a friend.

I looked in the bowl today, and Biggie F has was at the bottom, I poked him and he didn’t move. Biggie F is dead. I guess the clean water and plants couldn’t keep him alive. Sneaky is the only fish left alive.

i think this topic is important because you can learn how to take care of a pet, and not being mean to it and paying attention to it.

heres a link to this blog http://mattsfishblog.blogspot.com/

also heres a picture.

my comment - JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I THINK IT’S NICE THAT YOU CELEBRATE YOUR 1 WEEK ANNIVERSARY WITH A FISH, NOT ALOT OF PEOPLE DO THAT! ME AND MY FRIEND HAVE A FISH TOO, IT’S NAME IS CAROLINE.

all of these big fishers always talk about fly fishing, and i have no idea whatsoever what it means. i always guess maybe they go to swamps and catch flies maybe but i have no idea. i always hear about fly fishing champs and commercials about it and i always wonder what it is and how its different from regular fishing so today i decided to research it. Here is a picture of fly fishing.

Fly Fishing

from this picture it looks liek people go to waterfalls and catch the fish from there. i learned that it origanally started as just trout and salmon but now there are a variety of fish to catch.also it says that they use fake words to catch the fish. now i know the meaning of fly fishing  and now whenever i hear it ill think of right now.

here is a link to it FLY FISHING!

one thing that I’m concerned about is the ozone layer, and how there are holes in it. i really think people should stop using things to kill the ozone layer. if it disspears in 100 years, those kids who are being born then are never going to be able to see snow or anything. i think that’s an important lesson for every kid to learn. imagine growing up right now with no snow or the winter. it’s like living in a desert every day of your life. i think kids in the future and maybe even us, should get the expierence of the wether. Also, no one knows what will happen once the layer is gone. it could burn us to death, there could be a lot of sun poisioning and skin diseases. i really dont think its fair that everyone doesnt get a chance to feel the weather, or see the snow that’s why everyone should start not doing so much to ruin the ozone layer!
